Parker Robert is Baptized

On October 1st, our sweet Parker Robert was baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It was a beautiful day as our friends and family surrounded us in welcoming him into Christ's Church.  Honestly - it was a pretty emotional day for me.  Through our pregnancy and Parker's NICU stay, etc, SO many of our friends, family, and even strangers were praying for our sweet boy.  The power of prayer is in-describable.  To be able to witness such a precious gift from the Lord washed of original sin is a powerful thing.  To witness this knowing that he was given to me to raise up in HIS glory is humbling.

For Parker's godparents we chose two pretty special folks.  Parker's godmother is my dear dear friend that I've known since we were 19.  We met while we worked at a Christian summer camp for kids and have been good friends ever since.  We've cried together, laughed, danced, and some of my favorite memories over the last 10 years include this special lady.  Parker is very blessed to have her to help lead him down the path to righteousness.  Parker's godfather is also someone very special to our family.  He is actually Doug's "godfather" of sorts.  When Doug came in to the Church and was baptized and confirmed it was Tim who was there to lead Doug and be a witness for Doug.  His family have become very dear friends of ours and we always have a great time just hanging out with them.  Tim is an amazing father and husband and I know that Parker will grow up looking up to Mr Tim (literally as he's like 6'5" and figuratively).

Anywho - now that I'm done being all sappy...on to the actual baptism!

These are the invites that I made...the gown is actually our family gown (a new tradition I started with Kelson) and the rosary was blessed by Pope Benedict during his Wednesday Audience at the Vatican when we visited Rome in 2008.

Parker and his godmother...he's in LOVE (please notice that his noggin is WAY too big for the bonnet)

Baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!

Best part of this picture is the amount of folks documenting the day...Aaron (Kelson's godfather) is videoing and Kate's fiance is the other photographer!  It's ok...the family across the aisle had a full on professional there with his flashes, lenses, etc...atleast I let someone else photograph!  :)

Sweet Kelson had this tape measure throughout the service...my Mom ("KK") did her best to keep him quiet...I'm pretty sure by the end of the baptism he had 1 sucker, 1 fruitsnack, 1 granola bar, 1 fruit leather, some candy and then the tape measure to keep him occupied...

All that sin washing away is HARD WORK
Parker's cake.  I decorated the cross and his name...found my new favorite - Costco sells "pre decorated" cakes that have this handy part in the middle where you can add personalization (aka the cross and name) all for $15!  YES!  I'll take it!

The underpart of the gown has both boys monogram and their baptismal date.  My hope is that all of our kids and future generations will wear this gown
